Russian strategic long-range bombers launched airstrikes on ISIS sites in the countryside of Raqqa province on Friday.

Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that a group of Russian Tu-95MS long-range bombers have launched cruise missile strikes on ISIS targets in the countryside of Raqqa.

The ministry added that the strikes destroyed several terrorist camps, training centers and a command post for ISIS, noting that long-range bombers that took off from a Russian airfield flew over Iraq and Iran and launched cruise missile strikes on ISIS targets.

The ministry said that Su-30SM and Su-35S provided air cover to the Russian bombers from the Hmeimim airbase, adding that all the jets returned to their bases after successfully completing their combat mission.
