Damascus, Obstacles facing industrialists, mechanisms that guarantee the continuity of production process and means of enhancing the contribution of industrial sector to the total local product were the main topics of talks between Industry Minister Ahmad al-Hamo, Minister of State for Organizations and Federations Affairs Salwa Abdullah and the Board of Directors of Damascus and its Countryside Chamber of Industry

The meeting focused on the challenges facing industrialists under current circumstances and the unjust unilateral economic sanctions imposed by western states as well as proposals and recommendations to reduce their negative impact through solving the issues of loans, funding and supporting exports in addition to amending the investment law.

The government’s measures taken to activate the industrial sector were reviewed such as legislations and decisions issued recently to boost the competitiveness of Syrian products and exports, and exempting production lines and machines as well as providing necessary facilitations and funds to re-operate terror-affected factories.

Minister al-Hamo underlined the importance of holding regular meetings in order to discuss the situation on the ground and the positive impact of government’s procedures to support national industry.

For her part, Minister Abdullah stressed the need to continue cooperation and coordination between the government and the industrial chambers with the aim of solving industrialists’ problems and reach out appropriate solutions to improve the industrial sector and restore its key role in the national economy.
